Streamsong Resort - Blue
Bowling Green, Florida
Tom Doak's companion course to Streamsong Red, the Blue features equally stunning sand-dune terrain with Doak's signature minimalist approach. The wide fairways and creative green complexes reward strategic thinking and ground-game creativity in a setting that rivals the great links of the British Isles.
History & Heritage
Streamsong Blue was designed by Tom Doak and opened alongside the Red Course in 2012 on a former phosphate mining site owned by The Mosaic Company in Polk County, Florida. The mining left behind massive sand ridges that Doak recognized as extraordinary golf terrain -- the central portion with the tallest formations was allocated to the Blue Course.
Doak routed the course through the most dramatic landforms, creating a layout that feels more like Ireland than Central Florida. Bill Coore first visited the property and recognized its potential, leading to parallel development of both courses.
Streamsong Blue has been consistently ranked among the top public courses in America. Together with Red (Coore and Crenshaw) and Black (Gil Hanse, opened 2017), the resort offers three world-class courses on transformed industrial land.
Signature Holes
A short, drivable par 4 with stunning views across the sand-dune landscape. One of the most enjoyable openers in Florida golf.
A short par 3 with one of the most fascinating green complexes on the course. Dramatic contours make pin position critical despite the modest yardage.
One of the best holes on the course. A strategic tee shot sets up a unique approach through natural sand-dune terrain.
A long, demanding par 3 that begins a challenging closing stretch. Demands a precise long iron to find the green.
What to Expect
Streamsong Blue delivers a links-style experience on terrain that seems impossible for Florida. Doak's minimalist design lets the former phosphate mine sand ridges create natural drama, with wide fairways and bold green complexes.
Conditions are typically firm and fast, rewarding the ground game. Wind is a constant factor on this exposed, treeless layout. Caddies are available and recommended.
Playing Tips
Embrace the ground game. Doak designed the Blue to reward bump-and-run approaches. Firm conditions mean high-flying shots often bounce over greens, while low runners can use the contours to funnel toward pins.
The closing stretch from 16 through 18 is demanding. A caddie is invaluable for reading the creative green contours on a first visit.
