Bill Coore & Ben Crenshaw
Golf Course Architect
Biography
Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw have become the gold standard of modern minimalist golf architecture. Since forming their partnership in the mid-1980s, they have produced some of the most critically acclaimed courses of the 21st century. Crenshaw, a two-time Masters champion, brings a player's intuition and deep love of golf history, while Coore contributes meticulous site reading and construction expertise. Their courses consistently top "best new" lists and age remarkably well.
Design Philosophy
The Coore & Crenshaw philosophy centers on "finding" a golf course in the existing landscape rather than imposing one upon it. They move minimal earth, preserve natural features, and create wide playing corridors that offer multiple strategic options. Their greens are typically large, subtly contoured, and run firm and fast.
