Peachtree Golf Club

Atlanta, Georgia

Co-designed by Bobby Jones and Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1948, Peachtree is one of Atlanta's most prestigious private clubs and a shrine to the legacy of its co-founder. The rolling, tree-lined layout in Buckhead features bold bunkering and large, contoured greens.

History & Heritage

Peachtree Golf Club was born from the collaboration of Bobby Jones, the legendary amateur who won the Grand Slam in 1930, and Robert Trent Jones Sr., who would become the most prolific golf course architect of the twentieth century. The course opened in 1948 in Atlanta's Buckhead neighborhood, with Jones envisioning a club that would recapture the magic of Augusta National, which he had co-founded in 1933.

Robert Trent Jones had such deep respect for Bobby Jones that he began using his middle name professionally, reportedly saying there could only be one Bobby Jones in golf. The design reflects their shared philosophy of strategic golf, with wide fairways offering multiple routes but demanding precision on approach shots to the large, boldly contoured greens.

Peachtree has maintained its intimate, exclusive character with approximately 225 members. The club remains one of the most respected private clubs in the American South, with rolling terrain, mature trees, and timeless design ensuring it ranks among the finest courses in Georgia.

What to Expect

Peachtree is a classic, intimate private club in Buckhead. The Jones and Jones design emphasizes strategic play over brute length, with large, boldly contoured greens as the primary defense. With only about 225 members, the club maintains a quiet, unhurried atmosphere.

The course proves that great golf does not require extreme length -- thoughtful design and superb green complexes create a memorable test at any yardage.

Playing Tips

The greens are large and boldly contoured, making position more important than proximity. Hitting the correct portion of the green is essential to avoid three-putts.

The rolling terrain creates uneven lies throughout. Take time to assess your stance and adjust club selection. The course rewards thoughtful play over raw power.
