The Golf Club of Tennessee
Nashville, Tennessee
Nashville's most exclusive golf address, The Golf Club of Tennessee is a Tom Fazio design that winds through the rolling hills of Williamson County. The course features dramatic elevation changes, pristine conditioning, and panoramic views of the Tennessee countryside.
History & Heritage
The Golf Club of Tennessee was formed in 1988 by Nashville businessman Bronson Ingram along with Toby S. Wilt and George Gillette, who envisioned building a fine golf-only club west of Nashville. Tom Fazio, assisted by longtime associate Tom Marzolf, designed the sprawling layout on 317 acres in Kingston Springs.
The course opened for member play in 1991 and quickly established itself as the premier private golf club in the Nashville area. The design features A1 bent grass greens and lush fairways winding through the rolling Tennessee countryside with dramatic elevation changes and panoramic views.
The Golf Club of Tennessee maintains an exclusive membership focused purely on the golf experience without the social programming typical of traditional country clubs. It consistently ranks among the top private courses in the state.
Signature Holes
A demanding par 4 with a sweeping view of the Tennessee hills. The elevated tee provides a panoramic vista before the challenge of the approach to a well-defended green.
A scenic par 3 playing slightly downhill with the rolling countryside as backdrop. The green is surrounded by Fazio's characteristic bunkering.
A risk-reward par 5 that tempts long hitters to go for the green in two while punishing those who miss. The hole winds through mature trees with elevation change.
A strong finishing par 4 that demands two precise shots to reach the green. The elevated setting provides a fitting conclusion to the round.
What to Expect
A sprawling Tom Fazio design on 317 acres of rolling Tennessee countryside. The course features dramatic elevation changes and panoramic views with pristine conditioning throughout. The golf-only club atmosphere means the focus is entirely on the playing experience.
At 7,334 yards from the tips the course is a serious test. A1 bent grass greens are fast and true.
Playing Tips
The rolling terrain means many lies are uneven. Practice hitting from sidehill and uphill/downhill lies before your round. The elevation changes also affect club selection significantly.
The bent grass greens are fast and true but feature subtle breaks influenced by the surrounding terrain. Reading greens carefully is essential for scoring.
