Bluejack National
Houston, Texas
Tiger Woods' first U.S. course design, Bluejack National is a family-oriented club with a world-class golf course routed through towering East Texas pines. The design emphasizes playability, fun, and a 10-hole short course called "The Playgrounds."
History & Heritage
Bluejack National was announced in 2014 when Tiger Woods Design was chosen to redesign an existing 18-hole course on a 767-acre property of rolling hills in Montgomery, Texas, about an hour northwest of Houston. It became the first championship-level course Tiger Woods designed in the United States.
The course opened in late 2015 with all 18 holes fully operational by 2016. Woods was deeply involved in the design, shaping a layout that emphasizes playability and fun while providing a championship test from the back tees at 7,552 yards. The property's natural rolling terrain and towering East Texas pines provided an ideal canvas.
Bluejack quickly earned recognition as one of the top residential golf communities in the country. The club features the championship course, The Playgrounds -- a 10-hole lighted short course designed for families -- and extensive resort-style amenities.
Signature Holes
A stunning opening hole that plays downhill from an elevated tee through a corridor of pines. The dogleg left sets the tone with dramatic elevation change and strategic bunkering.
A driveable par 4 at just 318 yards from the tips. Players who keep their tee shot left while avoiding hazards can reach the green, but the risk-reward calculation makes this one of the most exciting holes on the course.
Often cited as the signature hole, frequently compared to the iconic 12th at Augusta National. The hole plays over water to a green defended by bunkers with towering pines framing the backdrop.
A strong finishing hole demanding two quality shots. The fairway narrows approaching the green, with strategic bunkering creating a demanding final test.
What to Expect
Bluejack National is a luxury residential community and private club built around Tiger Woods' first American course design. The par-72 layout plays to 7,552 yards from the tips but offers multiple tees for all skill levels. Zoysia fairways provide firm, fast playing conditions.
The atmosphere is family-friendly and laid-back with a Texas hospitality feel. The Playgrounds short course, with lights for evening play, reflects the club's emphasis on fun and accessibility.
Playing Tips
Bluejack rewards accuracy more than length. The rolling terrain creates uneven lies throughout, so solid ball-striking is essential. The zoysia fairways provide excellent conditions but firm turf that can challenge players unused to the surface.
The par-3 12th is the marquee hole -- check the wind carefully before committing to club selection over the water. The driveable 8th offers exciting risk-reward but punishes errant tee shots severely.
