Keith Foster
Golf Course Architect
Biography
Keith Foster is one of the most respected golf course architects working today, known for both original designs and sensitive restorations of classic courses. His original work — SunRidge Canyon in Scottsdale, Bear Dance in Colorado — demonstrates a gift for dramatic terrain, while his restoration of Southern Hills Country Club for the 2022 PGA Championship earned widespread acclaim. Foster apprenticed under Arthur Hills and runs his practice from a central Texas studio.
Design Philosophy
Foster believes the best golf courses flow naturally with the land, using existing terrain features rather than imposing design on the landscape. He emphasizes playability for average golfers while maintaining strategic interest for skilled players, and his restoration work prioritizes recovering original design intent.
